About Mitsui Sumitomo Reinsurance Limited

Mitsui Sumitomo Reinsurance limited (MSRe) was founded on 11th February 1999 and started its operation from 1st April 1999 under the name of Sumitomo Marine Reinsurance (Europe) Limited. Following the merger of Parents Company on 1st October 2001, company name was changed to Mitsui Sumitomo Reinsurance limited.

MSRe is a wholly owned subsidiary of MS Frontier Reinsurance Limited in Bermuda, which is owned by Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Company, Limited in Japan. The Capital Fund is Euro 80 million (Paid Up Capital: Euro 20 million and Capital Contribution: Euro 60 million).

Head Office is located in IFSC, Dublin, Ireland, and two Branch Offices are located in Singapore and Labuan, Malaysia. Labuan Branch has Marketing Office in Kuala Lumpur.

MSRe focuses on Non-Catastrophe and Short-Tailed Property and Casualty Reinsurance in Asia (excluding Japan) and Europe, and deals with Proportional Treaty Reinsurance and Risk Excess of Loss Programmes with Regional Territory exposures.

Dublin Head Office takes charge of Europe and Africa. Singapore Branch takes charge of non-Muslim Countries in Asia and Oceania. Labuan Branch takes charge of Muslim Countries in Asia and Middle East.

The company policy is achieving solid growth in terms of both size and profitability through strict underwriting and intensive marketing to take part of MS&AD Insurance’s Portfolio.
